In the jungle lived a mighty lion king named Garjanar and his wife, Queen Raunak. One day, Garjanar hunted a big deer and brought it to their cave. He told Raunak, “I’m going to take a nap. When the cubs come, share it equally among everyone.”
A clever jackal named Chalbaaz lived nearby. He was hiding in the bushes and saw everything. He thought, “So much meat! If I play a trick, I can take it all.”
While the lion slept, Chalbaaz quietly entered the cave and spoke sweetly to Queen Raunak: “Your Majesty, many angry lions are coming! They say Garjanar stole their hunt and is going to attack. I came to warn you.”
Raunak got scared. “What shall we do? We have little cubs!” Chalbaaz said, “Quickly hide the meat and run away with the children through the back path. I’ll wake the king and bring him outside.”
In a hurry, Raunak wrapped all the meat in a big leaf and hid it in a hole behind the cave, then ran away with the cubs. Chalbaaz woke the lion, shouting, “King! Enemies are here! The queen and cubs have fled!”
The lion roared and rushed outside. Meanwhile, Chalbaaz happily ran to the hole and started eating the meat all by himself.
When the lion came out, there was no enemy anywhere. He felt something was wrong and returned to the cave. He saw the empty cave, the missing meat, and Chalbaaz running away with a big piece in his mouth!
With one leap, the lion caught the jackal. Chalbaaz trembled with fear. The lion asked, “You did all this?” The jackal cried, “I was only trying to help… just a tiny piece went into my mouth!”
Queen Raunak came back with the cubs and understood everything. She said, “Let him go. He has learned his lesson forever.” The lion gave the jackal a gentle slap and said, “Never again try to take someone else’s share by lying!”
Chalbaaz ran away with his tail between his legs and never again looked at anyone else’s share.
Moral Lesson: Trying to take someone else’s share through lies or tricks never works. Honesty is the greatest treasure.
