In the jungle ruled a huge and proud lion named Garjansingh. Every day, he called one animal and said, “Come, you are my dinner today!” Everyone was scared, but nobody could stop him.
A tiny rabbit named Chaturu was very smart and brave. When his turn came, he thought, “I will end this fear forever.”
Chaturu reached the lion late on purpose. Garjansingh roared, “Why are you so late, little rabbit?” Chaturu pretended to be frightened and said, “Your Majesty, on the way, I met another lion, even bigger than you! He said, ‘This jungle is now mine, Garjansingh is nothing!’ He tried to catch me, too, but I escaped.”
Garjansingh became very angry. He roared, “Take me to that lion right now! I’ll teach him a lesson!” Chaturu smiled inside and said, “Yes, Your Majesty, follow me.”
Chaturu led the lion to an old, deep well in the middle of the jungle. The water was far below and showed a clear reflection. Chaturu said, “That lion lives inside this well. Please look down.”
Garjansingh looked in. He saw his own reflection, big, scary, and roaring. He thought it was the other lion! In anger, he shouted, “Come out, coward!” and jumped straight into the well to fight “the other lion”!
SPLASH! A huge sound echoed. Chaturu looked down, laughed, and said, “Your Majesty, you were always the biggest lion. Now the jungle belongs to everyone!”
Chaturu ran happily to all the animals and announced, “No more fear! We will live happily together!” All the animals hugged Chaturu and called him “Little Hero”.
From that day, there was no king in the jungle. Everyone lived together, helping and caring for each other.
Moral Lesson: Pride and anger make us act in haste and hurt ourselves. Cleverness and courage can solve even the biggest problems.
