There was a clever cat named Motu. She often watched the birds living in the trees, thinking of ways to catch them. One day, she sat under a tree, listening to the birds sing.
Motu thought, “If I can trick the birds, I can easily catch them.” She called out loudly, “Birds, you are so beautiful, and your voices are so sweet. I wish I could live in the trees like you.”
The birds chirped among themselves, hearing Motu’s words. One bird flew down and said, “Madam Cat, how can you live in trees? Your paws aren’t made for climbing.”
Motu quickly replied, “Oh no, I’ve learned to climb trees. I just need a little practice. Can you teach me?”
The bird saw through Motu’s trickery. Laughing, she said, “Madam Cat, climbing trees is fine, but you’ll also need to learn how to get down. Otherwise, you’ll get stuck up there.”
Motu panicked, realizing her plan to catch the bird had failed. She quietly left the scene.
Moral of the story: Trickery doesn’t always work. Honesty is the best path.
